YOGA

Sādhanā - methodical discipline to attain desired knowledge or goal

It is only through a daily integrated yoga practice we can find balance, our purpose and a deep meaningful reconnection to our true selves.

The challenge is not to be perfect, it is to be whole.

YOGA FOR MENOPAUSE

This 5000year old, science and art of living has been proven over generations to improve the body, breath, mind and day to day living experience of individuals.

Simplistically put, Yoga that is practiced on the mat comprises of asana, pranayam and dhyan.

Asana - physical practice of movement and postures

Pranayam - breathing techniques to increase and expand  breath and energy levels

Dhyan - meditation to bring the mind into silence

Practiced together the body comes back into alignment and balance and along with it comes self-esteem, self-worth, deep awareness and connection to who you truly are.

Yoga taps into your self awareness and guides you gently to make choices in day to day life that help you along your transition. Ayurveda, a sister science to yoga provides holistic and healthy alternatives to modern medicine and compliments the yogic way of life.

Adopt a new way of life and a change in mindset takes time. These are gradual changes, small choices you will start to make on your own. In your habits, food choices, daily rituals as you work with your own body, your environment, culture. Socio-psycho-bio factors.

There are many other simple techniques, gestures and rituals that Yoga has to offer that help bring the body into homeostasis. The Yogis in the mountains many years ago, researched, experimented and tested techniques on themselves with only one goal. To reach higher states of conscious awareness. Little did they know that these techniques will come in very handy for the modern day menopausal woman!

I say this with confidence because I'm a living example of how Yoga has helped me through my menopause journey. Through my stages of perimenopause and now menopause I have used my yoga knowledge to alleviate chronic symptoms of menopause. I have tapped into my yoga toolkit whenever I have needed to and now I want to share it with you.

I can help you move from being:

Helpless to Empowered

Anxious to Calm

Hot and flustered to just Hot!

Fuzzy brained to Mindful

an Insomniac to Restful

My offerings are simple, carefully curated and easy to follow. There is always an attempt to explain the science behind what you are doing. I want to help you adopt a yogic way of life, not just do the occasional yoga session at a gym or a studio. This is the pivotal point in your wellness journey. I will help you to thrive not just survive!

ETHOS

Yoga teaches about acceptance. Acceptance first of self. Then of everything around you. Situation, people, life. Acceptance with gratitude and humility.

Yoga is for everyone. You are welcome no matter who you are or where you are in your journey. We do not have beginner or advanced group classes because everyone is unique and their journey distinctive. Through a dedicated practice, we build a healthy body and mind.

The goal of practice is just one: SILENCE.

With the SILENCE comes the awareness that we all have the knowledge within. We start to tap into this inner intelligence as we bring dedicated practice into our life.

The three key integrating parts to our practice:

SHAKTI -  Our inner divine, strength and power of the feminine. Our innate nature of quiescence and stillness.

SADHANA - Our devoted practice. Our dedicated discipline. Our invaluable time with oneself learning, exploring and growing.

SEVA -  Selfless service. Our natural ability to care, serve and nurture. These are the pillars of how we move forward on our wellness journey. Sadhana our practice enables us to tap into our shakti and we are able to carry out our duty our seva towards ourselves, our loved ones and our community.

As we move on this path together, peeling physiological and sociological layers away, it will become apparent that, change is inevitable. Yoga will become intrinsically included in all aspects of your life.

MY STUDENTS ARE SAYING:

"It is helping a lot – I try and use the breathing exercises at work or when I feel stressed. I reflect on things that Purnima says in class – during the day and try and get the sense of calm and acceptance that we have in class.I like the way Purnima puts me at ease – she is inclusive and not exclusive. I do not feel like I have to measure up to an ideal – there is no judgement it is what it is – I am what I am. Purnima is happy for me to try and seems to genuinely care."
